Autocross Championships

Open Championship

Each year West Texas Region SCCA conducts a year-long Driver's Open Championship Series. Open to West Texas Region SCCA Members only. The series is essentially a handicap series wherein each SCCA class is given a PAX index. By multiplying each vehicle's time by the PAX index, the relative capabilities of the vehicle are equalized, thereby allowing for comparison of times of all classes. Click here to see the PAX Index and Points System. At the end of the season, the WTR Member with the greatest number of points becomes Autocross Champion. Awards are given to the top three finishers. Points are counted only from the best 8 out of 10 events, thereby allowing members to compete for the championship even when they have to miss a few races.

Street Tire Championship

At each event, in addition to class competition, awards will be given to the fastest PAX index times among vehicles competing with "Street Tires". Street tires are defined as any tires that have a Department of Transportation (DOT) treadwear rating of 140 or higher. These ratings are on the sidewall of street tires. If a driver finishes in a trophy position in the street tire class as well as in his/her car's class, he/she will only be eligible for the highest place award. The WTR SCCA also conducts a year-long Street Tire Championship Series. The rules for the Street Tire Championship Series are the same as for the Open Championship Series.

NOTE: The Street Touring classes are not eligible for Street Tire points due to their street tire rule limitation and subsequent lower PAX factors.
